The UK’s research landscape is evolving, and this role offers a chance to shape its future by supporting the national science policy and fostering collaboration among research institutions and government through the newly formed National Research Organisations (NRO). The NRO represents the UK's independent and government-affiliated research institutions, delivering world-class science and research for national and international benefit. Its mission includes enhancing the research landscape’s sustainability and accessibility, working closely with government departments and stakeholders to promote evidence-based policy and long-term financial stability.
The role involves supporting collaboration between NRO Directors, Chief Science Advisors, and civil servants. Responsibilities include:
1. Raising awareness of the value of non-university research organizations.
2. Addressing challenges identified in recent reviews of the research landscape.
3. Supporting organizations in engaging with the Government’s five key missions: economic growth, clean energy, public safety, opportunity equity, and healthcare improvement.
Key activities include organizing meetings, coordinating attendance, acting as a main contact point, developing website content, maintaining the NRO website, supporting strategic outcomes, and preparing briefing documents. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, possess excellent interpersonal skills, and be confident working with senior stakeholders. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Teams is essential; experience with Drupal is desirable.
If interested, please submit your CV and a cover letter highlighting relevant qualifications and experience. Note: Visa sponsorship is not available; however, the role may support a Global Talent Visa endorsement or self-sponsorship options, which should be indicated in your application.
