The Communication Support Worker is responsible for delivering high-quality, targeted support to deaf pupils, enabling full access to the curriculum and wider school life. Philip Southcote School is a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities School for students aged 11 to 19. Philip Southcote Satellite Centres: Our centres are based within mainstream secondary schools. Chertsey High School, Chertsey, Epsom and Ewell High School and Kings International School, Camberley.

Position: Communication Support Worker
Start Date: 1st September 2025

Key responsibilities include:
* Provide communication support for the deaf students, in line with their needs and preferences (BSL/SSE/Spoken English), in order to access the curriculum and social experiences across the school day
* Ensure students have the optimum audiological access through regular listening checks, supporting the use of Assistive Listening Devices (ALD) and promoting whole school engagement in the use of Soundfield systems
* Support and promote the deaf identity of the individuals through facilitating knowledge and skills in areas such as audiology, promoting a positive deaf identity and self advocacy
Requirements include:
* GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent appropriate qualification)
* BSL Level 2 or higher with a commitment to further training in this area
* Ability to demonstrate an awareness, understanding and commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children
