Responsibilities and Duties
* Stock and Distribution Management, including re‑stocking of Omnicell cabinets.
* Medicines Management – support the Pharmacy Team and work closely with ward staff.
* Dispensing duties.
* Complete tasks by assigned deadlines and prepare to complete NVQ2 level pharmacy training for support staff.
* Assume stock medication ordering duties for inpatient, home treatment and community teams across NELFT.
* Replenish stock in Omnicell cabinets, support security and safe storage, and maintain cold‑chain for vaccines and refrigerated medicines.
* Minimise pharmaceutical waste by supporting Medicines Management Pharmacy Technicians and Senior Pharmacy Assistants.
* Carry out Patient’s Own Medicines assessments and obtain patient consent to use or destroy medicines.
Qualifications
* Good standard of general education.
* GCSE grades A to C (or 4‑9) in English, Mathematics and Double Science (or equivalent).
* Computer literacy; appropriate training will be provided.
Training and Progression
After completing the initial NELFT probation period, training will begin to gain the apprentice BTEC/NVQ Level 2 Certificate in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Support Staff. Upon attaining the Level 2 qualification, the applicant will progress to Band 3. Opportunities to advance towards Pre‑Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician are also available.
Location and Working Pattern
The post holder will be based at Goodmayes Hospital, Ilford, and will rotate across Waltham Forest and Brentwood Community Hospital in Essex. The role will involve working in a busy dispensary, providing a range of dispensing duties for inpatient and community teams.

High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum £4,714 to maximum £5,941 per annum, pro‑rata for part‑time).
Full induction programme including mandatory training, system training and equipment allocation. Probationary period applies – internal applicants are exempt unless currently in a probationary period.
