Overview

Learning Consultant (Teacher) of Food Technology and/or DT – WMJobs

The Mercian Trust is seeking a Learning Consultant (Teacher) of Food Technology and/or DT. Closing date: 10 October 2025. Interviewing: 16 October 2025. MPS/UPS with TLR/R&R considered for the right candidate. Key Duties and Responsibilities

* To add value to every learner in each teaching group, benchmarked against national criteria and data.
* To deliver, plan, and prepare lessons in accordance with the planned curriculum.
* To deliver learning in line with Academy Policies.
* To work as part of an exceptional team to ensure creative and innovative learning and teaching in every lesson.


Teaching and Learning

* Use a variety of learning and teaching strategies to deliver outstanding lessons, maintaining pace and challenge.
* Integrate new technologies to raise achievement.
* Plan lessons and extend learning opportunities in line with Schemes for Learning.
* Ensure curriculum intent is clear and differentiate learning to meet individual needs.
* Make use of extended learning opportunities and participate in the Academy’s Quality Assurance framework.
* Work effectively with resources, including other adults and mentors, to create a positive learning climate.
* Adhere to the Trust’s Positive Behaviour Policy and promote safe, respectful conduct.
* Regularly evaluate student progress using prior attainment data to inform teaching and learning.
* Provide formative and summative feedback through marking, and report as required to stakeholders including students, parents/carers, and SLT.
* Engage in ongoing professional development and apply findings to improve practice.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of learning and teaching, including relevant national and Department for Education initiatives.
* Be aware of the Trust’s Anti-Bullying Policy and support students accordingly.
* Maintain good order and behaviour for learning, including Health and Safety considerations on- and off-site.


Wider Professional Effectiveness

* Participate in and actively engage with CPD; demonstrate ongoing improvement in your role.
* Liaise appropriately with colleagues to support school improvement.


Role Model

* Ensure no student is left behind, supporting academic and personal development.
* Conform to the Academy’s Dress Code and demonstrate high standards of presentation, conduct, and punctuality.
* Build team commitment among students and staff; engage and motivate others to perform at their best.

* Uphold the Academy’s aims and strive to meet targets; work in a respectful, courteous manner to enhance the Academy’s reputation.
* Support the Academy’s community and ethos; promote a positive, harmonious working environment.
* Flexibility in duties in line with the needs of the Academy.


Health and Safety Responsibilities

* All staff must be aware of and comply with Health and Safety policies and conduct appropriate risk assessments.
* The Academy site is a designated no-smoking environment.

Education & Qualifications

* Qualified teacher status (Essential)
* Good honours degree (Essential)
* Continuing good record for professional development (Desirable)
