Lake District Wildlife Park, part of Armathwaite Hall Hotel & Spa, is located against the backdrop of the Skiddaw massif in the northern Lake District and cares for over 100 species of wild and domestic animals. But it's not only our VIPs that attract visitors, we also have on site our outstanding café specialising in home cooked wholesome food and probably the best range of meals, snacks and sweet treats of any wildlife park nationwide.
Job Overview
We're looking for a Café Assistant to join our small, friendly Front Of House team. You'll be a real team player, with a passion for hospitality and high standards of service in a busy environment. With previous knowledge of catering operations you'll understand that the Café is an essential part of the Park experience for our visitors and demonstrate flexibility and great organisational skills to make their visit a memorable one.
Responsibilities
* Serve customers promptly and courteously
* Assist with food and beverage preparation
* Support the set-up processes in terms of preparation, presentation and provision of display units and fridges and ensure all food storage standards and hygiene protocols are followed at the end of service
* Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the café area, including tables, counters, and kitchen equipment
* Restock supplies and ensure all food safety standards are adhered to at all times
* Take orders accurately and handle transactions efficiently using the POS system
* Provide excellent hospitality by engaging with customers and addressing any special requests or dietary requirements
* Assist in setting up for events or special occasions hosted at the café
Requirements
* Previous experience in a hospitality or restaurant environment is preferred but not essential; training will be provided
* Knowledge of food safety regulations and practices is advantageous
* Experience in catering, serving, or food preparation is desirable
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
* Excellent communication skills with a friendly demeanour
* Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
* Flexibility to work during peak hours, including weekends and Bank Holidays if required

Pay: £12.71 per hour
Expected hours: 22.5 – 40 per week
