As Operations Manager, you’ll take the lead in managing the safe, compliant, and customer-focused transportation of fuel by road. You’ll oversee two day and two night Shift Managers, Fleet Administration, and a Reconciliation Team, ensuring smooth operations and exceptional service delivery.
This is a pivotal role where you’ll drive performance, maintain regulatory compliance, and foster a culture of safety and teamwork.

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £52,000 per annum. In addition, we offer 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays), as well as the option to buy additional days. What you’ll do on a typical day:
1. Lead and manage the Control Tower operation and its team, ensuring compliance with company and legal requirements.
2. Oversee daily delivery plans, managing vehicles, drivers, and trailers effectively.
3. Communicate operational issues clearly across teams and with customers.
4. Monitor financial performance and KPIs, supporting cost control initiatives.
5. Represent the site in customer forums, discussing KPIs linked to Safety, Service, and Cost.
6. Ensure full compliance with driver hours, working time, and vehicle maintenance regimes.
7. Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities and implementing corrective actions.
8. Inspire and develop your team through coaching, feedback, and regular performance reviews.
What you need to succeed at XPO:
9. Qualifications: CPC essential.
10. Experience: Proven track record managing teams in a transport environment. Fuels is advantageous.
11. Strong leadership and coaching skills.
12. Excellent communication and influencing abilities.
13. Ability to manage conflicting priorities in a fast-moving operation.
14. Confidence with Microsoft Office tools.
15. Experience engaging with trade unions or employee work groups.
