Senior Underwriter - Product Solutions
Role Description
We’re excited to offer a fantastic opportunity to join our team as a Senior Underwriter in our Product Solutions team.
The purpose of this role is to implement product strategy and support product development to align with business goals and customer needs. This includes contributing to policy wordings and supplementary documents to ensure contract integrity, risk mitigation, and compliance with regulatory and Group standards.
This role actively contributes to Allianz UK's transformation project, influencing the design and evolution of new and existing products and their supporting documentation.
The role supports innovation and collaborates with various business functions to deliver strategic objectives. This role requires deep underwriting expertise and the ability to translate technical insight into impactful product solutions.
This is a hybrid role, requiring a minimum of 2 days per month in Allianz offices, with at least one of those days in Guildford. Additional travel may be required on an ad hoc basis.
Salary Information
Pay: Circa £50,000
Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.
About you
* Support product development, design, and governance across multiple lines of business.
* Provide expert input into policy wordings and documentation to ensure clarity, compliance, and customer value.
* Collaborate with underwriting, claims, sustainability, and distribution teams to shape product strategy.
* Contribute to transformation initiatives, including the design of future products and documentation.
* Maintain awareness of market trends, competitor approaches, and provider processes to inform product delivery.
* Deliver technical training and guidance to underwriters, supporting their development and capability.
* Ensure compliance with regulatory and Group standards, including Consumer Duty requirements.
Essential Skills
* Background in insurance underwriting and/or and product development, with expertise in technical documentation.
* Ability to make informed decisions that drive underwriting success and operational efficiency.
* Proven ability to support projects.
* Experience in drafting and maintaining policy wordings using underwriting knowledge.
* Excellent communication and influencing skills across stakeholders.
* Ability to collaborate across functions including claims, legal, and distribution.
* Ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
Desirable Skills
* Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) qualifications, or equivalent
