Senior Project Manager role at VolkerWessels UK. Project Managers with HDD experience are invited to join VolkerTrenchless Solutions / VolkerEnergy as part of VolkerStevin Group.
VolkerTrenchless Solutions (VTS) is a collaboration of Hanab Project (NL) and VolkerStevin Infrastructure Ltd, established to deliver major trenchless projects in the UK. We have an in-house engineering division, extensive HDD rigs, dedicated staff, and are leaders in HDD projects. Through our UK/NL partnership we provide civils and project management support to drilling activities in the UK to the highest standard.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager, reporting directly to the Operations Manager, to support the development of major HDD projects in the UK through tenders, preconstruction and early contractor involvement phases.
Responsibilities
* Provide precontract support in pricing works and challenge UK and NL-based pricing to form robust tender offers including working methods and engineering solutions.
* Coordinate and bid manage major HDD projects including frameworks schemes, sea outfalls and cable landfall for windfarms and EHV interconnectors.
* Liaise with the Pre-contract department of Hanab Projects for tenders in the UK.
* Assist the VolkerStevin procurement team with developing HDD standards for supply chain procurement of minor HDD subcontracted works.
* Drive the incorporation and promotion of best practice in HDD drilling throughout all HDD works carried out by Volker Stevin Group in the UK.
Construction
* Drive HSEQ performance and ensure compliance with company policy; provide technical and operational support to VTS UK projects (including live drilling projects and ECI works).
* Assist with the recruitment of UK-based drilling personnel.
* Coordinate with Hanab Projects and UK technical departments to agree working methods and engineering solutions.
* Engage with the operational drilling department, core team members and drill teams to spread and collate best practice.
* Engage and audit the supply chain (ducting, tooling, rigs, guidance, water, welding, etc.) with support from the VS Supply Chain manager.
* Ensure site-level HSEQ and quality performance, and support site teams with RAMS and ITPs to ensure compliance with the quality management system and employers’ requirements.
* Produce, review and monitor construction methodology documentation including RAMS and ITPs; produce as-built documentation from site; manage materials forecast, procurement and reconciliation.
* Collate site data for Daily Progress Reports and ensure adherence to information management procedures.
Business Development and Client Facing
* Represent Volker Wessels Group at UKSTT and attend industry events.
* Support business development of the VTS brand; prepare technical presentations and identify client needs to scope projects.
About You
* Experience of managing heavy civil engineering projects in the UK and/or overseas, preferably within a Tier 1 contractor environment.
* Experience in pipeline and/or utility sectors with trenchless techniques including Horizontal Direction Drilling (HDD).
* Experience in managing safe systems of work and quality management; familiarity with Permit to Excavate and Services coordination.
* Excellent IT knowledge including AutoCAD and Microsoft Office suite.
* Degree/HNC in civil engineering or equivalent (desirable).
* Member of a professional institution (MCIOB, ICE or similar).
* Good communication skills with client representatives, site teams and operatives.
* Ability to challenge designs and resolve problems to conclusion.
* Full Driving Licence.
