We are seeking to appoint a part-time Consultant in Orthodontics to join thecurrent Consultant in Orthodontics and be part of a dedicated team in thedepartment of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Orthodontics. This is a replacement post.
The successful candidate should hold a CCST and be on the GDC SpecialistRegister in Orthodontics and should also have obtained the ISFE in Orthodonticsor be within 3 months of attainment at time of interview.
This post is for PAs but applications from those who wish to work fewer hourswill be given equal consideration.
Rotherhamis conveniently situated, with excellent motorway access, and is close to thePeak District, Sheffield and Meadowhall Shopping Centre. There are excellentlocal state and private education facilities.

Main duties of the job
The primary clinical responsibilitiesof the post-holder are:
General
1. In conjunction with Consultant and Seniorcolleagues, to provide a service in Orthodontics with evidence based practice.
2. To provide cover for Consultant andSenior colleagues in respect of periods of leave.
3. In conjunction with Consultant and Seniorcolleagues, to take part in medical audit and research as appropriate.
4. In conjunction with Consultant and Seniorcolleagues, to ensure that the requirements of clinical governance are met.
5. To ensure that there are adequatearrangements for hospital staff involved in the care of your patients to beable to contact you when necessary.

Job description
Job responsibilities
The Orthodontic Department at RotherhamGeneral Hospital is situated within the main out-patients area and is sharedwith Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
It provides a full range of Orthodontic servicesto patients from the Rotherham area, including the treatment of orthognathicpatients, and patients with hypodontia and impacted teeth. Multidisciplinary clinics are held within thedepartment with the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and a ConsultantRestorative Dentist from the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital in Sheffield.
There are currently 2 modern well-equippedsurgeries allocated to Orthodontics, with a third surgery shared withOMFS. The department has its ownradiographic and Cone Beam CTfacilities, and all surgeries have computer terminals for viewing of digitalradiographs on the PAX system. An intra-oral scanner has recently been added inone of the surgeries and the department uses Dolphin imaging software fordento-facial imaging. The Orthodontics / OMFS laboratory is sited within thedepartment, which includes a desk-top scanner to enable digital storage ofstudy models. All instruments are sterilised in the Central Sterilisation Unitof the hospital.
