Java Developer – Investment Banking Client
Location: Glasgow (Hybrid, 3 days per week on-site)
Contract: 6-Month Initial Contract (Inside IR35)
Overview:
Our leading investment banking client is seeking an experienced Java Developer to join their high-performing engineering team in Glasgow. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a global financial environment, contributing to the design, development, and optimisation of complex, high-volume systems that underpin trading and risk operations.
You’ll collaborate with global teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and secure software solutions while ensuring alignment with architectural and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design, develop, and maintain robust Java-based applications used across trading and risk management platforms.
* Work with cross-functional teams to deliver efficient, maintainable, and well-tested code.
* Optimise application performance and ensure adherence to security and compliance requirements.
* Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Support integration with databases, APIs, and internal systems.
* Troubleshoot production issues and provide timely resolutions.
Key Skills & Experience:
* Strong commercial experience in Java 11 or above (Java 17 preferred).
* Proficiency with Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring Batch, Spring Integration).
* Experience with microservices, RESTful APIs, and event-driven architectures.
* Good understanding of SQL and relational databases (e.g. Oracle, PostgreSQL).
* Exposure to Unix/Linux environments and scripting.
* Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control tools (Git, Jenkins, Maven, etc.).
* Familiarity with financial services or banking technology environments is advantageous.
* Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.
Contract Details:
* Duration: 6 months (strong potential for extension)
* IR35 Status: Inside IR35
* Hybrid Working: 3 days per week on-site in Glasgow
