The Opportunity
An opportunity has become available to Join a well-established manufacturing site in the North East, supporting the reliability and safe operation of electrical and instrumentation assets. You’ll deliver planned and reactive maintenance, fault-finding and improvements across process equipment, control systems and plant utilities helping drive uptime, safety and compliance.
Your duties and responsibilities will be
Execute planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive work on instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow, level), control valves, analyzers and low-voltage electrical systems (motors, drives, MCCs, control panels).
Diagnose and resolve breakdowns on instrumentation loops and PLC/SCADA systems (e.g., Siemens/Allen?Bradley) — fault?finding rather than software development.
Perform calibration, loop checks, verification, and maintain accurate maintenance records within the CMMS (e.g., SAP/Maximo).
Conduct hazardous area inspections (ATEX/DSEAR) and maintain Ex equipment to site standards and relevant regulations.
Read and update P&IDs, E&I drawings, loop diagrams, and produce redlines/as?built documentation after modifications.
Apply safe systems of work (LOTO, Permit to Work, risk assessments, method statements) and champion site HSE standards.
Support shutdowns/turnarounds, including planning, execution, testing and hand?back to operations.
Assist with minor projects/installs (specification, procurement, FAT/SAT, commissioning).
Collaborate with Operations, Engineering and external contractors; contribute to root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities.
You will have the following qualifications & experience:
Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (Electrical or Instrumentation)
Strong industrial/manufacturing background (chemical, petrochemical, pharma, food, or similar).
Proven hands?on experience in instrumentation maintenance and calibration; control valves and transmitters.
CompEx Ex01–Ex04
Reactive and Preventative maintenance experience
Ability to read P&IDs and Loop checks
