Job Title: Civil Engineering Assessor/Trainer
Salary: £29,700 - £34,600
Duration: Permanent
Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday
Location: Cambridge
Role Purpose:
You'll take charge of a group of learners, coaching, mentoring and training them to complete their apprenticeships on time.
Responsibilities include:
* Be their guide: Take full responsibility for your caseload of learners, helping them every step of the way.
* Progress checks: Hold regular progress reviews, providing constructive feedback to learners, employers, and colleagues.
* Main point of contact: Build strong relationships with learners and employers, acting as the go-to person for questions, updates, and support.
* Collaborate with employers: Work with them to set up activities and tasks that help learners develop their skills, knowledge, and behaviors.
* Skill development: Help learners develop and track their knowledge, skills, and behaviors effectively.
* Life skills: Deliver targeted training that builds learners' wider life skills.
Additional information: An enhanced DBS check will be completed prior to starting this role.
Key Duties:
You will organize, provide, monitor, and assess training and support for learners throughout their programs, acting as the connector between college, employers, and learners.
* Sign them up: Work with learners and employers to complete the sign-up process efficiently.
* Starting points: Assess learners' starting points to create tailored learning plans.
* Ongoing guidance: Provide information, advice, and guidance, including careers and wellbeing resources.
* Training plans: Design individual plans to prepare learners for assessments and EPA.
* Assessment preparation: Get learners ready for gateway reviews and EPAs with clear plans and timelines.
* Deliver training: Conduct training sessions at employer or college sites.
* Assessments: Conduct assessments meeting high standards and support learners' portfolios.
* Off-the-job training: Plan, track, and monitor off-the-job training as part of each learner’s plan.
* Resource creation: Develop materials using tools like Smart Assessor and the VLE.
* Review meetings: Regularly review progress with learners and employers.
* Support portfolios: Assist learners in building their KSB e-portfolios.
* Time management: Set objectives, deadlines, and track outcomes.
* Feedback collection: Gather feedback to improve processes.
* Skills support: Enhance learners' English, maths, and digital skills.
* Pastoral care: Ensure access to safeguarding, Prevent, Equality, British Values, and other supports.
* Inductions: Deliver comprehensive induction programs.
* Employer partnerships: Strengthen collaborative relationships with employers.
Skills and Experience Required:
* A good standard of education.
* Experience in a similar role.
* Level 3 relevant vocational qualification and CPD in Civil Engineering.
* Level 3 TAQA or equivalent in assessing vocational qualifications.
* Good knowledge of IT packages.
* Friendly and welcoming personality.
* Ability to work independently and in a team.
