The Role Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and managing a Finance Officer, you will oversee all day-to-day finance operations for the College. You’ll play a key role in improving systems and processes, ensuring financial compliance, and supporting the leadership team with strategic planning and reporting. Key responsibilities include: * Overseeing end-to-end finance operations and driving improvements to processes and controls * Preparing monthly management accounts, annual budgets, and financial reports with commentary * Managing VAT, tax activities, investments, and insurance * Maintaining relationships with tenants and managing associated contracts * Overseeing payroll and employment records, with HR support where needed * Acting as the College’s Data Protection Officer * Leading and developing the Finance Officer * Supporting the Executive Team in preparing budgets, KPIs, and forecasts * Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, data security, and cost management About You We’re looking for a professional who combines strong financial acumen with a collaborative, values-led approach. Essential qualifications and experience: * Qualified or part-qualified accountant (AAT, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) * Experience producing management and financial accounts * Experience in budget preparation and management * Knowledge of accounting software and Microsoft Office * Strong understanding of PAYE, VAT, and charity finance principles * Proven ability to manage staff and foster a positive working culture Desirable: * Full AAT membership * Experience implementing new finance systems Personal qualities: * Trustworthy and reliable * Strong communication and interpersonal skills * Able to build positive relationships across teams * Motivational and supportive leadership style Why Join Sarum College?
