About you
You will be an experienced Asbestos Compliance Surveyor and be able to demonstrate a solid understanding of asbestos legislation & health & safety requirements in relation to asset maintenance. You will have a track record of managing all aspects of asbestos management including ensuring that asbestos containing materials in buildings are managed or removed in line with recommendations. It is essential to have a "can do attitude" and often look for new innovative ways to achieve the highest levels of compliance. You must be able to communicate effectively with a variety of different people sometimes with sensitive information. Experience of updating asbestos registers and databases are essential.
About the role
The role will manage the delivery of effective compliance for asbestos across the asset maintenance service, working with managers, staff and contractors to ensure that all operations are consistent with current legislation and approved codes of practice in both the short and long term. Maintaining and striving for continual improvement of our asbestos compliance within this role is essential. The position includes line management of a technical officer within the asbestos service. You will be expected to conduct site visits on regular basis to both unoccupied as well as occupied premises.
About the team
The Compliance Team ensures that the Council's Asset Maintenance Service is fully compliant with relevant legislation and good practice in all areas, including Fire Safety, Lone working safety, electrical, gas and asbestos safety, passenger lift, hoists and stair lift safety, radon and external environment safety, risk assessments and procedures, legionella testing and water services, accident and incident investigations and compliance audits, Environmental Management Plan including carbon reduction, resources conservation and waste minimisation.
