Due to the secondment of the current post holder, Tayside Medical Science Centre (TASC) seeks to appoint a highly motivated National Health Service Research Scotland (NRS) Research Manager on a fixed-term basis for 1 year, with a possible extension until 31st March 2027.
Role Overview
The NRS Research Manager will coordinate and deliver the local clinical research portfolio within NHS Tayside. They will also have national responsibility for six NRS Specialties: Oral and Dental, Metabolic and Endocrine, Hepatology, Genetics and Rare Diseases, Infectious Diseases, and Anaesthesia, Perioperative Medicine, and Critical Care across Scotland. The role involves promoting activity, providing education, and supporting researchers in these specialties. The manager will oversee a small team (1.4 WTE) of administrative staff and be part of the TASC senior management team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Monitor activity across a wide portfolio of studies, working with local and national stakeholders.
2. Proactively address areas where study start-up or recruitment is suboptimal, devising practical solutions.
3. Manage recruitment metrics and reporting locally and nationally, aligning with research priorities.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will have at least a Master’s degree, relevant research experience, and proven experience managing professional staff. They should be well-organized, possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be capable of motivating and leading staff. Flexibility to work across Scotland and the UK, including travel, is essential.
