We are looking for a caring, well‑motivated Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) to join our dynamic team on Sharp ward, a 29‑bed orthopaedic unit with an acute assessment bay catering primarily to patients with Neck of Femur (NOF) fractures.
The successful candidate will be a hard‑working, driven and compassionate individual who thrives within a team and is passionate about providing holistic care.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake personal care, including toileting, bathing, dressing and feeding.
* Carry out basic patient assessments and provide feedback to the Registered Practitioner to ensure high standards of care, especially regarding skin integrity and patient alertness.
* Adhere to infection prevention and control policies, and health and safety procedures.
* Promote health education and encourage self‑care and independence in patients.
* Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe environment with patient bed spaces accessible and orderly.
* Demonstrate care, compassion, and person‑centred support to patients, carers, and relatives.
Additional Duties (as outlined in the JD)
* Provide support with toileting, bathing, dressing, and feeding, and record oral fluid balance and nutrition.
* Follow patient care plans under supervision and report any changes immediately to the Registered Practitioner.
* Assist with maintaining a safe environment for patients throughout the day.
Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, and to those with Priority or At‑Risk status, including NHS At‑Risk staff throughout Devon who can demonstrate recent relevant experience.
Enhancements are paid for antisocial hours.
