<div><p>The Urology Department is seeking an enthusiastic Band 4 Non‑clinical (administrative) Navigator to join the Faster Diagnostic Service (FDS) team, supporting patients referred with suspected bladder cancer. The FDS supports earlier diagnosis for patients referred with suspected cancer, and this role is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of a new role within the urology diagnostic pathway. In this role you will track patients from referral through to diagnosis, coordinate referrals, triage, book clinic appointments and liaise with healthcare professionals across primary and secondary care. You will be the point of contact for patients, respond to queries and concerns, and support the Clinical bladder Navigator and the nurse practitioner team to ensure patients are seen in a timely manner. You will also provide cross‑cover for the prostate non‑clinical Navigator when required.</p><h3>Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Act as single point of access for patients referred on the FDS pathway.</li><li>Triage incoming calls and emails using established protocols and refer for clinical input when necessary.</li><li>Provide basic telephone advice where appropriate.</li><li>Upload referrals, send for clinical triage and ensure outcomes are actioned.</li><li>Book patients into the appropriate clinic under the guidance of the clinical FDS navigator, using telephone, email, or Accurx text.</li><li>Use the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) to book appointments, communicate, and finalise letters.</li><li>Maintain an Excel spreadsheet to monitor, audit and report compliance with the FDS pathway.</li><li>Produce audit figures and graphs as required.</li><li>Attend weekly Patient Tracking List and multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings.</li><li>Undertake general administrative duties as required.</li><li>Develop and maintain working relationships within the wider diagnostic team.</li><li>Coordinate transition of care between service teams and referring general practitioners.</li><li>Ensure investigations are performed, results received, reviewed and appropriately filed or redirected.</li><li>Support information prescription delivery and collaborate with local providers of validated information resources.</li><li>Monitor, audit and report on response times and compliance with governance protocols.</li><li>Participate in the review of implementation issues and support solution identification.</li><li>Order supplies and equipment relating to the service on behalf of the budget holder.</li><li>Perform end‑to‑end patient documentation, including letter generation within defined turnaround times.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>GCSE level education, 5 GCSEs or equivalent.</li><li>Computer literate with good knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel.</li><li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.</li><li>Experience of patient or customer engagement.</li><li>Effective organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload.</li><li>Calm under pressure and able to remain composed in difficult situations.</li></ul><h3>Desirable Criteria</h3><ul><li>Previous experience working in NHS/social care.</li><li>Knowledge of the Trusts IT systems such as EPR, Infoflex or CRIS.</li><li>Knowledge of cancer diagnostic pathways and treatment pathways.</li></ul></div>
