Key Responsibilities:
* Provide leadership and strategic direction for the financial reporting function, collaborating closely with the Head of Financial Reporting to drive organisational goals and initiatives.
* Act as a second-line support to the Head of Financial Reporting, providing expertise, guidance, and strategic insight to ensure the effective execution of financial reporting processes and initiatives across the business.
* Oversee all aspects of financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and company policies.
* Utilise your technical understanding of accounting principles to effectively challenge stakeholders across the UK and International business, strengthen controls, and enhance governance practices, driving improvements in financial reporting processes and outcomes.
* Collaborate with senior management and key stakeholders across departments to align financial reporting processes with business objectives, drive strategic initiatives, and promote a culture of compliance and transparency.
* Deliver month end close in conjunction with FP&A to ensure the balance sheet and cash flow are correctly reported and enable decision making
* Foster the growth and development of team members, providing mentorship, guidance, and opportunities for professional advancement, and cultivating a high-performing and engaged team.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, serving as a trusted advisor and people leader to drive collaboration, understanding, and alignment.
Location: We have bases in Nuneaton, London and Burton, a typical week in this role will be 2 x per week in Nuneaton. There may also be occasional travel outside of the UK. We're a global, digitally enabled business and we expect our colleagues to be self-driven and to determine the most appropriate place to work each day to meet the requirements of the role, achieve their best performance and optimum output.
The Person:
Key Requirements:
* Qualified Accountant ACA or ACCA
* Experience of establishing and implementing financial controls frameworks, risk management, and compliance.
* Extensive experience in financial reporting and Financial Controls Management in a senior manager role, preferably in fast paced environment.
* Extensive technical knowledge of IFRS and accounting principles.
* Experience of working across divisions and preparing consolidated financial statements.
* Experience of driving forward the external audit and ability to co-ordinate requests
* Ability to drive process improvements and automation initiatives within the financial controls function.
* Collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure effective alignment with business objectives.
* Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering their growth and development within the finance department.
