Protocol Education is currently recruiting for a passionate and proactive Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming and inclusive school in Southend. About the Role
As an HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting pupils across the curriculum and leading lessons in the teacher’s absence. You will deliver targeted interventions, support individual learners, and contribute to planning and assessment within the classroom.
This position is ideal for a confident, flexible practitioner who is committed to supporting pupils’ academic and personal development.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver learning activities to individuals and small groups
* Lead whole-class teaching when required
* Assist with lesson planning, classroom organisation, and resource preparation
* Support pupils with SEND and SEMH to access the curriculum
* Contribute to tracking and assessing pupil progress
* Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment
Candidate Requirements
* Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or HLTA in a school setting
* Strong understanding of the national curriculum
* Experience supporting pupils with SEND (particularly SEMH) is highly desirable
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
* HLTA status or relevant qualifications/training in safeguarding, child development, or first aid are advantageous
