$44.58 – $47.97 per hour plus 12% superannuation

Are you passionate about improving the lives of vulnerable children and young people through supporting their carers?

Are you an experienced practitioner in Out of Home Care or Family and Community Services?

You are exactly who we're looking for. This is an opportunity to help foster and kinship carers provide therapeutic parenting to children and young people, with a focus on learning, development, and collaboration.

The core mission of Anglicare (NSW South, West & ACT) is to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty for children, young people and families, with services focused in Liverpool, the ACT and regional/rural NSW.

The Role

Anglicare NSW is seeking a Carer Support Practitioner (Foster and Kinship) to join our team in an ongoing capacity. You will work to grow and develop our pool of authorised carers by undertaking carer recruitment activities, assessments, and organising carer training programs to ensure therapeutic parenting is supported.

You will work closely with Foster and Kinship Carers alongside the Permanency Support Program (PSP) Foster and Kinship Care Team to support high-quality care arrangements for children and young people.

Main Responsibilities

* Develop and execute community engagement strategies and partnerships for carer recruitment.
* Participate in foster and kinship carer assessment interviews and activities.
* Contribute to carer reviews and assist in organising carer events, including training sessions.
* Assist in implementing Therapeutic Response Plans, especially with carers.
* Collaborate on creating a carer-to-carer mentoring program and oversee its progress.

Qualifications and Experience

* A Diploma in Community Services, human services, social work, or welfare or equivalent.
* Experience in working with children, young people, their families, foster and kinship carers.
* Experience in cultural strengths-based practice with Aboriginal people, families, and communities.
* Trained in Step by Step and Shared Lives (a suite of foster care and relative kinship training and assessment tools produced by ACWA).
* Availability to work across numerous sites if required.

Application and Enquiries

For all enquiries, please contact Senior Carer Support Coordinator, Jennifer Hornby, 0491 053 985 or Senior Carer Practitioner, Linlea Clark-Samrani, 0427 619 263 (during business hours).

Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants are welcome to apply.

Note: Applicants are required to undertake psychometric profiling, obtain a Working with Children clearance through the Office of the Children's Guardian (NSW), and a satisfactory National Criminal History Check, which will be conducted by HR.

About Anglicare

As the social justice arm of the Anglican Church, Anglicare’s mission is to tackle disadvantage and help children, young people and families break free from poverty. Our work focuses on helping those who are homeless or in crisis through our Survive and Thrive approach, supporting parents to keep their children school-ready and engaged with education and post-school training. The Survive component provides immediate needs like emergency food relief and crisis accommodation, while the Thrive component addresses longer-term social, emotional, spiritual and educational needs to break the cycle of poverty.

We aim to reduce the number of children entering Care and Protection through early intervention that strengthens family relationships.
