Product Manager – Data Products Product Manager (Names & Places) | Fulltime | Salary £ 56,755.00 - £ 6 6,215.00 (dependent on experience) - Hybrid working Ordnance Survey (OS) is the national mapping agency for Great Britain, delivering trusted location data and insights that help build a better-connected world. We are looking for a talented Product Manager to lead the performance, evolution, and strategic direction of our product portfolio. About the role Our Data Products team is looking for people to help inspire the organisation and our customers, to go ‘somewhere new ’, by ensuring we successfully deliver our products and helping to build a portfolio of next generation data, services and platforms. You’ll be looking after our Names and Places data products within the Address and Location portfolio. These products include OS NGD Geographic Names, Names API, Open Names, Emergency Services Gazetteer, Points of Interest, Built-up Areas, the Vernacular Names tool and future enhancements to this portfolio. About You As a Product Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing a diverse portfolio of products that serve customers across the Public Sector and OS Partners. Your responsibilities will include defining and delivering data products and services that address user-centric propositions, ensuring a balance between market demand, technical feasibility, and affordability, all while prioritising an exceptional user experience. Building and nurturing strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders will be fundamental to your success in this role. Working closely with the wider Product Management team, data experts, and key stakeholders, you will manage a portfolio of products through their full lifecycle from discovery to end-of-life. You’ll take ownership of large-scale enhancements and new product releases, ensuring successful end-to-end delivery including design, quality sign-off, and go-to-market activity. Using data-driven decisions, you’ll determine when to progress through lifecycle stages and implement agreed withdrawal plans on time. You will lead user engagement for major enhancements, new products, and withdrawals, confidently presenting to large external audiences about your portfolio and wider OS products and concepts. Strong stakeholder management is essential, as you’ll collaborate across Customer, Marketing, Data and Technology, as well as directly with customers. In addition, you’ll define and implement product improvements, resolve quality issues, create and deliver roadmaps, maintain product collateral, and lead performance reviews. Coaching and mentoring team members will also be a key part of your role. We want you to contribute towards our ambition to refine and manage the National Map, deliver our Data and Destinations Strategy and empower our customers to meet their goals. Most of all, you’ll play a critical role in helping OS to realise its vision: to be recognised as world leaders in geospatial services; creating location insight for positive impact. Key Responsibilities Manage product performance across a portfolio of existing and new products, ensuring alignment with OS’s strategic goals. Own the product value propositions, lifecycle plans, and product roadmap, balancing market, technical, and financial considerations. Champion product understanding by acting as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders and ensuring clarity on product value. Support customer ‑ centric delivery of product propositions, working closely with marketing and communications teams to keep customers engaged and informed. Lead product performance reviews, using scorecards and KPIs to make evidence ‑ based decisions about product development, enhancements, or withdrawal. Engage with user communities, key customers, partners, and external stakeholders, ensuring feedback is captured and translated into product improvements or requirement updates. Develop strong relationships with operational teams, customer ‑ facing colleagues, and external partners to deliver the roadmap in line with service, cost, and revenue targets. Lead and manage a team, where required, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and customer focus. What we’re looking for You will be a self-starting professional who has a strong interest in geospatial data, its application, and customer benefits it can deliver. You should have a background in product management or product development in the private or public sector These roles will focus on products and propositions for our Names and Places products working with our government and partner channel to understand the needs and opportunities in this space. Therefore, a background working with data products is desirable Excellent understanding of customer needs and market insight, with the ability to translate this into a product roadmap for future product development Proven track record of championing your products and propositions internally and externally to ensure the execution of the product strategy, product-led investment programmes, marketing and sales engagement Good knowledge of user-centred design and experience in driving engagement with key customers, partners, and external stakeholders to ensure that product plans reflect a deep understanding of customer needs Proven track record of building and maintaining effective relationships with operational and customer facing colleagues to design and deliver product enhancements within expected targets Commitment to relevant professional development and market understanding to continue to provide the appropriate support to the business Experience and knowledge of sectors that use OS data, for example, Land and Property, Emergency Services or Utilities would be desirable, but not essential Here is a snapshot of the technologies that we use Azure Cloud Technologies, Python, Databricks, Azure DevOps, Powershell, YAML Pipelines, Esri ArcGIS, FME, QGIS E xperience using Aha!, Azure DevOps and GIS software would be desirable but not essential The Rewards We want you to love what you do.
