Interim Payroll, Pensions & Onboarding Manager

Location: Hybrid working, based near Addlestone with travel to sites as required.

Contract: Temporary assignment while a permanent appointment is recruited.

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 FTE (or equivalent hourly), depending on experience.

Start Date: ASAP

The Opportunity

A growing multi-site organisation is seeking an experienced Payroll, Pensions & Onboarding Manager to support payroll operations during a period of expansion.

This is a varied role combining payroll oversight, pensions administration, stakeholder support and the onboarding of new sites. An immediate start is available to allow for a full handover, with potential opportunity to be considered for a permanent role.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll

1. Oversee payroll operations across multiple sites.
2. Manage payroll for the central team.
3. Act as the escalation point for payroll queries.
4. Liaise with external payroll providers.
5. Provide payroll support and cover where required.
6. Ensure payroll deadlines and compliance requirements are met.

Pensions

7. Manage relationships with Pension and Local Government Pension Schemes.
8. Coordinate pension submissions and reporting.
9. Respond to pension-related queries.
10. Ensure compliance with pension regulations.

Onboarding & Support

11. Support the onboarding of new sites.
12. Gather and validate payroll and employee data.
13. Manage initial payroll setup and implementation.
14. Train and support local payroll and HR teams.
15. Travel to sites when required.

Essential Experience

16. Proven end-to-end payroll experience.
17. Strong knowledge of payroll legislation and compliance.
18. Good understanding of pensions administration.
19. Experience working with payroll providers and systems.
20. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
21. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Desirable Experience

22. Multi-site or multi-entity payroll experience.
23. Knowledge of Pension and Local Government Pension Schemes.
24. Strong Excel skills.
25. Experience delivering training and user support.
