Overview
Applications are invited for a permanent cardiac physiology post based in the Cardiology Department at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. The echo service is recruiting as part of a wider cardiology service expansion. We invite hard‑working, competent and motivated individuals to become part of our busy and friendly echo team.
Aberdeen Royal Infirmary is a busy tertiary centre with 900 beds and serves a population of 600,000.
Responsibilities
• Conduct routine cardiology clinics, including specialist valve and heart‑failure clinics, GUCH (grown‑up congenital heart disease) and a physiologist‑led valve disease echo clinic.
• Apply advanced echocardiography techniques such as trans‑oesophageal echo (TOE), stress echo, contrast echo, adult congenital and 3/4‑D imaging.
• Support research and teaching activities as required.
Qualifications
* Experienced echocardiographer with expertise in TOE, stress and contrast echo, adult congenital echocardiography, and 3/4D imaging.
* Held BSE adult proficiency accreditation (or equivalent).
* Professional registration and a BSc in Clinical Physiology (Cardiology) or an equivalent qualification with suitable knowledge, training and experience.
* Experience in paediatric echocardiography is an advantage.
* Experienced band 6 staff will also be considered; upon appointment they will undergo at least 12 months of training and assessment before upgrading to band 7.
