Are you a graduate looking to gain valuable experience supporting children with additional needs? A primary school in the heart of Newcastle is seeking a resilient, patient and proactive 1:1 SEND Support Assistant to work with a pupil presenting with undiagnosed ADHD.

This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates considering careers in education, psychology, speech and language therapy, or educational psychology, who want hands-on experience supporting a child with behavioural and attention needs.

The Role

You will work 1:1 with a pupil who presents with undiagnosed ADHD and behavioural challenges, supporting them to engage positively in learning and manage their emotions throughout the school day.

Key responsibilities include:

* Providing consistent 1:1 support within the classroom
* Helping the pupil stay focused and engaged with learning tasks
* Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
* Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement support strategies
* Encouraging confidence, independence and positive relationships

This role requires someone who can remain calm, patient and resilient, particularly when managing challenging behaviour.

What We’re Looking For

* A graduate (Psychology, Education, Childhood Studies or similar is desirable)
* A calm, resilient and positive attitude
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills
* An interest in SEND, ADHD, behaviour support or child development
* The ability to stay composed and consistent when faced with challenges

Previous experience with children or young people is beneficial but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
