The Role
The Dean Trust is seeking to appoint a talented and enthusiastic Level 3 Teaching Assistant - Visual Impairment to join our dedicated team at Dean Trust Ardwick.
The core purpose of the role will be t o work under the guidance of teaching/senior staff and within an agreed system of supervision, to implement agreed work programmes with individuals/groups in or out of the classroom. This will include the detailed and specialist knowledge in the particular area of a visually impaired pupil.
Key responsibilities:
* This role will involve teaching children with visual impairment.
* Ability to use, or be willing to learn to use and support the child’s learning of Grade 2 Contracted Braille.
* Work with the teacher to establish an appropriate learning environment.
* Work with the teacher in lesson planning, evaluating and adjusting lessons/work plans as appropriate.
* Work closely with, and be guided by a Qualified Teacher of the Visually Impaired (QTVI) and Lead for Visually Impaired.
* Implement agreed learning activities/teaching programmes, adjusting activities according to pupil responses/needs.
* Be aware of and support differences and ensure all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.
* Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school.
