Make Your Mark as a SHE‑Q Engineer
This is an opportunity to step into a hands‑on SHE‑Q role where you will be far more than a compliance officer. You will act as a visible ambassador for safety, health, environment, and quality working across tenders, project start‑ups, live sites, and stakeholders to ensure a strong safety culture and consistent ways of working are embedded across all activities.
You will play a key role in supporting operational teams, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with recognised management system standards.
Key Responsibilities
Champion Safety & Quality
Act as the primary SHE‑Q point of contact for clients and stakeholders, translating policies and standards into practical, effective business processes.
Operational & Tender Support
Support tender submissions and project start‑ups by providing SHE‑Q input, documentation, and assurance to enable safe and successful delivery.
Incident Investigation & Learning
Lead incident investigations, manage corrective actions, analyse trends, and share lessons learned to prevent recurrence.
Process Improvement
Review and improve SHE‑Q workflows and management systems, ensuring alignment with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and the company's internal management systems.
Monitoring, Auditing & Assurance
Plan and conduct internal audits, as well as supporting client and subcontractor audits, to ensure effective governance and process control.
Reporting & Compliance
Maintain the legal register and compile SHE‑Q statistics for quarterly reporting, management reviews, and regulatory compliance.
Culture, Coaching & Training
Coach and engage project teams, delivering training and awareness sessions to strengthen SHE‑Q culture and encourage continuous improvement.
Required Knowledge & Experience
1-3 years' experience in a UK‑based SHE‑Q function
Experience within construction, infrastructure, marine, or maritime environments (highly desirable)
Basic understanding of industry plant, equipment, and operational activities
A proactive, continuous improvement mindset
Willingness to travel to project sites across the UK as required
Desirable Qualifications
NVQ Level 5, Diploma, or BSc in an engineering or related discipline
NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate
CQI & IRCA Auditor or Lead Auditor certification (ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001)

Additional Information
You will report to the SHE‑Q Manager and work closely with the wider SHE‑Q team, supporting projects across the UK. The role is based at a head office location in Fareham, Hampshire, with hybrid working available. Travel to live project sites will be required as part of the role
