About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly reliable Registered Dental Nurse to join our busy out-of-hours emergency dental practice. This role is ideally suited to a confident professional with 5+ years' post-qualification experience who is comfortable working in a small, single-surgery setting and able to operate independently without direct supervision.
This is a varied and responsible position requiring flexibility, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure in an emergency care environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide professional and efficient chairside assistance during emergency dental procedures
Prepare and maintain the surgery in accordance with cross-infection control protocols
Carry out full decontamination procedures in compliance with HTM 01-05 standards
Manage reception duties, including:
Patient bookings and enquiries
Taking payments and processing documentation
Maintaining accurate patient records
Ensure smooth day-to-day running of the practice during shift
Take responsibility for closing the practice, including:
Securing premises
Ensuring equipment is safely shut down
Completing end-of-day documentation
Maintain high standards of patient care and confidentiality at all times
Essential Requirements
GDC registered Dental Nurse (UK)
Minimum 5 years' clinical experience
Experience in emergency dentistry preferred
Confident working independently in a single-surgery environment
Strong knowledge of infection control and decontamination procedures
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Reliable, punctual, and professional
Ability to remain calm and efficient in high-pressure situations
Desirable
Experience in an out-of-hours or urgent care setting
Knowledge of SOE/EXACT or similar dental software
First aid training
