Location: Leeds We are recruiting for a Senior Operations Manager to manage our Leeds office, guiding and supporting its users as we continue to build, shape and expand our operation in northern England. The role will report into the Executive Director, Head of Leeds, with very close working relationships with both the Head of Location Strategy and the Head of Property. The role will be responsible for the daily Leeds office experience of its growing number of users - set to be 500 by 2027 - ensuring their needs are identified, assessed, and met in an effective and efficient manner. It will also lead key aspects of internal engagement, working with the Head of Leeds and other members of the Senior Leadership Team based in our Leeds office in defining the needs and executing the priorities of our team. The Role As the Senior Operations Manager, your role will involve leading and coordinating the operations of the Leeds Office and be accountable for all associated Leeds-related business planning, budget preparation and budget management. You will be responsible for assessing and advocating for the business requirements of Leeds based staff, engaging with partners across the Bank - in particular People, Central Operations, Risk and Technology - to ensure these requirements are surfaced and met in a collaborative and timely fashion. The role will work with the Senior Leadership Team in Leeds to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the Leeds office. You will work closely with the Head of Leeds and the Location Strategy Team to ensure the development of the Leeds office continues to align with the Bank's overall Location Strategy. You will advise the Head of Leeds on emerging operational or financial risks emerging in the Leeds office. You will also be an integral part of creating an office environment whose culture is a force for attracting talent to the Leeds office, both within the Bank and beyond it. This role requires a dynamic individual that is capable of navigating a variety of senior stakeholder relationships both within and at times external to the Bank. You will be accountable for a range of activities including: Business Planning and Operations Acting as the key interface for colleagues in Central Services as we work to ensure the Leeds office presence meets expectations agreed by Governors. Ensuring Leeds office user perspective is reflected in inputs to central decision-making processes around key policies enabling Leeds office growth - working closely with the Senior Policy Manager in the Location Strategy Project. Engaging closely with owners of relevant policies in Finance, Technology, People and Operations to ensure strong two-way communication. Responsible for ensuring Head of Leeds and Leeds SLT perspective is reflected in the development of office and facilities planning, both at interim and final location. Providing timely reports on challenges and opportunities in BAU in Leeds to aid Head of Leads and Location Team guide strategic decision making, including the identification and management of risks. Ensuring accuracy, relevance, and timeliness of business planning and MI for Head of Leeds and Location Team. Supporting Head of Leeds in delivering a working environment that is inclusive and welcoming to all its regular users and visitors. Risk Management and Reporting Inputting into any risk and audit management activity with the wider Location Strategy Project to ensure the Leeds office meets the expectations set out centrally. Leading the gathering of internal information in response to audit requests and the delivery of audit actions as they arise. Contributing to the design of any governance, assurance and contract management frameworks applied to the Leeds office, ensuring they comply with all appropriate policies and frameworks across the Bank. Ensuring the Leeds office complies with internal and external regulatory requirements and policies, including but not limited to Our Code, Data Protection, and the public procurement policies. Key relationships and dependencies: Working with the Head of Leeds and broader Location Strategy team to develop and deliver the business plan and budget. Working with the Location Strategy PMO and Finance Business Partner on budget reporting and monitoring. Working closely with wider Central Services to optimise resourcing and ensure the right skills and capabilities are present within the office. Working closely with other senior stakeholders from across the Bank and their Private Offices for regular working and presence in Leeds. You will be individually accountable for the performance of key deliverables for the Leeds office as agreed with the Head of Leeds. This role will oversee a small team, but the job role holder will primarily be expected to deliver through others. Role Requirements: Essential A strong understanding of the Leeds strategy - and the Location Strategy more broadly - with demonstrable commitment to that vision. Proficiency in assessing and deploying data to advise strategic decision-making. Experience in working across boundaries, working with areas outside line management to deliver change in a collaborative and effective manner and working inclusively. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Demonstrable ability to influence and advise senior leaders effectively. Ability to present information to a variety of stakeholders and excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build a network of contacts, to create trust and rapport. Ability to deal with ambiguity, being proactive and taking initiative. Desirable Experience as a business manager or related strategy, financial or operational role within a complex organisation with a good operational track record of successful delivery. Proven ability to create and implement business plans, with the ability to think strategically and synthesise information from the relevant business areas. Demonstrable understanding of how to manage budgets, oversee operations and manage associated risks. This is a people management role. You will be responsible for day to day management of the team and for defining roles and responsibilities. You will develop your team through sharing information effectively, coaching and communicating a clear vision to ensure that your staff are productive, engaged and motivated to deliver the area's aims. This will include setting clear goals and smart stretching objectives that are aligned to those of the team, division and directorate. Salary and Benefits Information We encourage flexible working, part time working and job share arrangements. Part time salary and benefits will be on a pro-rated basis as appropriate. This role offers a salary of £76,240 - £85,770. In addition, we also offer a comprehensive benefits package as detailed below: Currently a non-contributory, career average pension giving you a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/80th of your annual salary for every year worked.
