Assistant Practitioner or Trainee Assistant Practitioner
Join to apply for the Assistant Practitioner or Trainee Assistant Practitioner role at NHS Ayrshire & Arran
We are currently seeking applications from experienced advanced nurse/clinical practitioners to join the ANP service and Medicine for the Elderly team within Raigmore Hospital. The post holder will work alongside AHPs and our existing Senior ANP within our new frailty assessment area, while providing in-reach to acute admission areas and the emergency department, in addition to working in our Acute Care of the Elderly wards. The service will initially run 5 days per week (Monday to Friday daytime hours); future service models may extend to 7 days, therefore post holders may be required to work evenings/weekends. Full or part time hours are available on a fixed-term basis with secondments considered.
We seek applications from experienced healthcare workers who have worked in an acute hospital environment (desirable, but not essential) and can evidence ongoing learning and development. The job will be physically and emotionally demanding as the post-holder will provide clinical and administrative support to Medical, AHP and Nursing staff and undertake a range of clinical and non-clinical duties. Registered healthcare staff will delegate roles and tasks and you must have the ability to work independently and with supervision. You will carry out minor clinical procedures such as venepuncture, cannulation and catheterisation, assist with medical procedures and provide assistance to medical emergency and cardiac arrest teams.
You may be required to work in and out of hours, which may include days, evenings and weekends.
Applicants must have a minimum standard grade pass (or equivalent) in English and two other national grade passes. In addition, you must have good communication skills and a very good command of both written and spoken English.
Assistant Practitioners are required to have completed a relevant qualification at SCQF level 7-8 or above (examples: Higher National Certificate/Diploma (HNC/D) or Professional Development Award (PDA) at Level 8). Candidates not in possession of the above qualifications would be considered for a Trainee Assistant Practitioner post and will be required to undertake a specified training programme to achieve a relevant qualification at SCQF level 7-8. If unable to successfully complete the specified qualification the post holder may be subject to redeployment processes. The post holder will be supported by a practice development nurse and aligned to NHSH and NES HCSW competency frameworks.
Informal enquiries: should be emailed to joyce.struthers@nhs.scot or Kathleen.rutherford4@nhs.scot - Deputy ANP Leads.
