One focus area of the Amazon Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) mission is to provide tools, resources, and environments that support safe, efficient, healthy behaviors and encourage employees to proactively manage their health and wellbeing. To support this focus area, Amazon is seeking an experienced and innovative Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Manager to join our team. In this position, you will serve as the site’s designated first aid provider in the warehouse, coordinating and implementing the Amazon Global Program. The Site WHS Manager will be responsible for partnering with the Operations Team at the site level to execute company WHS policies and ensure compliance with all applicable local, regional, and federal regulations. This individual will lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risks in our processes, ensuring a safe and healthful working environment for our associates. The Site WHS Manager must demonstrate the ability to build trust and confidence with the Operations Team and influence change through comprehensive risk assessments and WHS data analysis.

The Site WHS Manager will lead and develop a team of WHS professionals. This individual must create and execute leadership development plans for their teams, communicate team expectations, provide frequent feedback, and ensure the team is executing to the core competencies of an Amazon WHS professional. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Providing guidance and oversight to ensure compliance with all applicable Amazon WHS Policies.
2. Possessing a thorough understanding of local, regional, and domestic regulations and company policy.
3. Leading initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risks in processes to ensure a safe and healthful working environment.
4. Establishing high-quality relationships with site and regional leadership.
5. Measuring site performance against published EHS requirements, identifying deficiencies, and driving accountability for corrective plans.
6. Analyzing WHS metrics and incident trends to allocate resources effectively to high-risk areas.
7. Performing frequent site WHS audits, identifying non-compliance, and implementing solutions to prevent injuries.
8. Auditing recordkeeping practices and WHS information system entries for compliance with standards and regulations.
9. Auditing workplace organization and associate behaviors, ensuring training and auditing methods are effective.
10. Ensuring site leadership and associates are trained and knowledgeable about their responsibilities, and auditing the quality and delivery of WHS training.
11. Working flexible shifts, including day, night, and weekends.
12. Obtaining adult First Aid, CPR, AED certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 3 weeks if not already certified.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelor's degree
* 5+ years of increasing responsibilities in EHS and/or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations
* 5+ years of increasing responsibilities in people and performance management
* Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Distribution Center or Manufacturing EHS experience with a mix of exempt and non-exempt employees at a site of at least 250 people
* Master’s degree
* Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment
* Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic organization
* Certified Safety Professional
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interfacing with site leaders
* Ability to develop and implement department goals and strategies
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Our compensation reflects labor costs across US markets. The base pay ranges from $84,800/year to $155,500/year, depending on location, knowledge, skills, and experience.
