As part of this evolution, were now seeking a talented Finance Controller to join the team.
The Role
Were looking for a hands-on Finance Controller to oversee the full financial function of the business. Reporting to the Finance Director, youll lead financial planning, ensure robust and accurate monthly reporting, support strategic decision-making, and strengthen financial controls across the organisation. This is a key role within an SME environment ideal for someone commercially astute, analytical, proactive, and committed to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis
* Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning
* Provide insight and analysis to support strategic decisions
Management Reporting
* Deliver monthly management accounts, board packs, and variance commentary
* Ensure compliance with accounting standards
* Oversee monthly VAT and CIS submissions
Project Profitability & Margin Control
* Partner with QS and Commercial teams on CVRs, WIP, and project profitability
Cashflow & Risk Management
* Maintain strong cashflow forecasting and working-capital control
* Identify financial risks and implement mitigation strategies
Financial Operations
* Oversee AP/AR, balance sheet integrity, and fixed assets
* Ensure timely month-end close (within 5 working days)
* Improve systems, processes, and reporting accuracy
Stakeholder Support
* Act as primary contact for auditors, lenders, and external accountants
* Coach, support, and develop the finance team
About You
Experience & Knowledge
* Strong financial and accounting experience (SME background preferred)
* Proven Managerial experience
* Experience in construction or manufacturing advantageous
* Sage and Eque2/Construct Cloud experience beneficial
* Exposure to audited accounts or FTSE environments desirable
Skills
* Analytical and commercially minded
* Excellent communicator with strong stakeholder influence
* Highly organised and detail-focused
* Strong problem-solver with project management capability
* Effective IT proficiency
Qualifications
* Degree in Accounting/Finance preferred
* CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualified (or working towards)
* Strong academic background considered
