Position: Science Technician
Location: Secondary School in Harrow
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week
Salary: Dependent on experience
A secondary school in Harrow is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Science Technician to join our dynamic Science department. As a Science Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the teaching and learning of science within the school.
Key responsibilities:
1. Prepare and set up equipment and materials for science experiments and demonstrations
2. Maintain stock levels of equipment and chemicals, and place orders for new supplies as needed
3. Ensure that all equipment is stored safely and securely when not in use
4. Assist teachers and students during practical lessons, providing technical support and guidance where necessary
5. Maintain laboratory equipment and facilities, ensuring that everything is kept clean and in good working order
6. Carry out risk assessments for practical activities, and ensure that health and safety regulations are followed at all times
7. Assist with the setting up and invigilation of exams and assessments as required
8. Support science teachers with administrative tasks such as photocopying, filing, and data entry
Qualifications and skills required:
9. Previous experience working as a Science Technician in an educational setting is preferred
10. A Science related degree
11. A good understanding of health and safety regulations in a laboratory environment
12. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
13. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers and students
14. A flexible and proactive attitude, with a willingness to take on additional duties as required
