Children's Residential Support Worker

Salary: £26,500 - £28,000 Per annum (40 hours per week, plus available overtime)

About the role
Source Supply are seeking compassionate and dedicated Residential Support Workers to join a children's residential service in Mansfield, supporting Looked After Children (LAC) with a range of Autism Spectrum Conditions and learning disabilities, including non-verbal communication needs, selective mutism, pathological demand avoidance (PDA), global developmental delay, and severe anxiety.
As a Residential Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing consistent care, emotional support and day-to-day assistance within the home. You'll work as part of a team to help each young person develop their independence, communication, and life skills while ensuring their safety, well-being and dignity at all times.
What the role involves:
* Supporting young people with all aspects of daily living in a residential setting
* Using nurturing, patient and adaptable approaches to meet complex communication and behavioural needs
* Building positive relationships and promoting stability for young people with Autism and related learning difficulties
* Responding proactively and calmly during periods of heightened anxiety or emotional distress
* Working collaboratively with the staff team, professionals and families
* Maintaining accurate records and contributing to personalised care plans
· Rota-based shifts, typically 7am–10pm. 3 to 4 shifts per week including some weekends. Monthly rota – flexible; 2 on 2 off, 3 on 3 off or 2 on 4 off.
* Sleep-in and waking night shifts may also be required
We'd love to hear from you if you have experience in:
* Children's residential care, respite, SEND settings or adult care involving Autism, learning disabilities or complex needs
* Supporting non-verbal young people or individuals using alternative communication methods
* Working with young people with emotional or behavioural challenges
Requirements:
* Level 3 Diploma for Residential childcare OR Level 3 Children, young people and families practitioner – Desirable but not essential
* Experience supporting children or young people in a school, residential, or specialist care environment
* A nurturing, consistent and resilient approach
* Understanding of Autism, communication differences and associated learning difficulties
* Recent, referenceable experience in a school or residential setting
* Willingness to work sleep-in or waking night shifts when required
* Strong communication skills and a positive, proactive attitude
* A full driving licence and access to a vehicle
