Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Dietitian to lead our Adult Acute dietetic team at Sherwood Forest Hospitals. This post offers the chance to develop leadership skills, drive quality improvement, and influence nutrition care across the hospital.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage a small team in appraisals, sickness management, delegating and coordinating the acute dietetics team, ensuring delivery of excellent patient-centred service
* Oversee service development, audits, quality improvement projects and training of Nutrition Champions
* Manage own caseload of ward patients as well as outpatient services
* Build strong working relationships with multidisciplinary teams
* Represent dietetics at nutrition and steering committee and operational catering groups
Person Specification
Essential – Qualifications & Training
* Qualified Dietitian (4‑year degree, post‑graduate diploma or equivalent)
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Relevant validated course or equivalent
* Registered with the Health Professions Council
Desirable
* Leadership/management training
* Member of BDA + specialist group
Essential – Skills, Knowledge & Personal Qualities
* Excellent verbal, non‑verbal and written communication skills including explaining, negotiating, motivating and training
* Able to work as lead member of dietetic and multiprofessional teams, building relationships with patients/carers, and other staff
* Able to handle sensitive and confidential information
* Able to overcome difficulties in communication, including language barriers, and adapt approach to varying situations
* Able to interpret and evaluate complex information from a variety of sources using professional judgement to solve problems and make decisions within own role
* Able to plan and organise workload of self and others, including daily tasks and longer‑term strategic planning, despite interruptions and changing priorities
* Provides supervision and support to other dietetic staff and students where required
* Able to participate in audit and research activity
Essential – Experience
* Extensive experience of working as a registered dietitian relevant to specialist area
* Additional depth of theoretical knowledge to masters level or equivalent
* Able to lead in the development, review and implementation of relevant policies and service development, recognising and responding to wider strategic concerns
Essential – Contractual Requirements
* Flexibility to meet the demands of the service
* Able to travel to required areas within and beyond the Trust
* Able to carry out anthropometric measurements accurately and use relevant equipment
* Able to use a computer keyboard and relevant computer programmes such as Word, PowerPoint
* Understands and uses hospital and other systems required to support patient care
