The opportunity
We are looking for a Research Assistant (Technical) to join the Fashion Innovation Agency at London College of Fashion, supporting a UKRI-funded project exploring transmedia storytelling for immersive brand experiences. In this role, you’ll contribute to the technical delivery of user testing that examines how Gen Z audiences engage with immersive media across video, MR and VR environments. You’ll support experiment setup and data collection using neurophysiological methods such as eye-tracking and EEG, alongside mixed-methods research including surveys and observational tasks. Working closely with academics, technologists and external partners, you’ll help design and run user-testing protocols, manage sensitive research data, and ensure high standards of accuracy, ethics and participant wellbeing. Your work will generate robust insights that directly inform prototype development and help shape new approaches to immersive brand engagement.
Your profile
* Experience with technical research methods, particularly in setting up and operating tools such as eye-tracking and EEG, or similar physiological data-collection systems.
* Ability to support experiment design, run user-testing sessions, and handle sensitive data in line with ethical and GDPR requirements.
* Experience with mixed-methods research—combining behavioural, survey or observational data with technical measures—would be a strong advantage.
* Methodical, reliable, and comfortable following research protocols, with a proactive, collaborative approach within a multidisciplinary project team.
