Reporting to the Group Health & Safety manager, this a fantastic opportunity to play a highly visible role within the business, partnering with stakeholders at all levels to influence positive change, drive a strong safety culture, and ensure we continue to meet and exceed our legal and corporate responsibilities.

We work in a hybrid way at Saga both at home and in the office. This role requires you to be working from our Folkestone office roughly three times a week as well as ad hoc trips to our Crawley office and workshop and operational ports in Southampton & Dover.

Other accountabilities will include:

• Promoting a positive and proactive health and safety culture throughout the organisation, raising awareness of issues, and leading by example to encourage colleague engagement and commitment to our values.

• Adopting a proactive stance in resolving issues and concerns.

• Supporting the investigation of incidents, accidents and health and safety breaches, analysing root causes, collating data, and recommending preventative measures.

• Staying informed about changes in health and safety legislation, monitoring and researching industry best practices, and ensuring continual improvement.

• Supporting the development and maintenance of key strategic working relationships, while advising on the development and delivery of programmes and processes.

• Consulting across the Travel business to continually improve the occupational physical and mental health of colleagues, implementing preventative and reactive controls.

• Supporting with the development and preparation of timely, concise and targeted reports to the Board.

• Supporting key programmes and projects in relation to HSE, adding value, continuously improving standards, and adequately controlling risk, while focusing on business needs.

• Providing an independent and competent HSE capability for Saga Travel to ensure that all key partners meet good practice and legal requirements as part of good corporate governance.

• Providing advice and due diligence in relation to HSE, as required.

• Working with internal and external stakeholders to monitor the status of compliance, identifying risks and issues.

• Representing Saga, as and when required, at selected meetings involving key stakeholders.

• Advising in the management and response to health and safety breaches, incidents, and emergencies

• Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and industry standards.

• Demonstrated ability to undertake risk assessments.

• Undertake Incident investigations, including root cause analysis.

• Ability to balance attention to detail while understanding broader context and perspective.

• Pragmatic problem-solver.

• Prioritise workload, ability to manage priorities and conflicting demands.
