Join our reception team at Mallard Medical Practice, a small and friendly GP surgery dedicated to providing exceptional healthcare to our community. As a receptionist here, you'll play a vital role as the initial contact for our patients. You will be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception duties and providing general support to the multidisciplinary team. Duties can include, but are not limited to, greeting and directing patients, effective use of the appointment system, booking appointments, processing information, and assisting patients as required.

You will act as the central point of contact for patients, be responsible for the distribution of information, messages, and enquiries for the clinical team, liaise with multi-disciplinary team members, and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.
About us
We are a friendly and welcoming GP Practice in the heart of Killingworth, North Tyneside. The practice has a population of just over 5,500 registered patients. We have a small admin/reception team, 5 GPs supported by an excellent multi-disciplinary team including a Nurse, a HCA, a Physician's Associate, a clinical pharmacist, and a pharmacy assistant. The practice also teaches medical students from Newcastle and Sunderland Universities.
Job responsibilities
The core responsibilities of the Receptionist include, but are not limited to:
1. Maintain and monitor the practice appointment system
2. Process personal, telephone, and e-requests for appointments
3. Answer incoming phone calls, transfer calls, or deal with callers' requests appropriately
4. Signpost patients to the correct service
5. Initiate contact with and respond to requests from patients, team members, and external agencies
6. Code data on the clinical IT system
7. Photocopy documentation as required
8. Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required
9. Input data into patients' healthcare records as necessary
10. Direct requests for information, such as SAR, insurance/solicitors letters, and DVLA forms to the administrative team
11. Manage all queries efficiently
12. Carry out system searches as requested
13. Maintain a clean, tidy, and effective working area at all times
14. Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards
15. Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested

Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
* GCSE Mathematics and English (C or above)
