Purpose of Role
Are you an aspiring Quantity Surveyor with a passion for delivering high-quality, cost-effective projects in the healthcare sector? VINCI Construction is looking for a proactive and motivated Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team at Whiston Hospital in St. Helens. This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional (0–3 years' experience) to gain hands-on experience working on live healthcare projects with the support and mentorship of an experienced commercial team.
Job Description
You will assist in delivering commercial and financial elements of our work on site, supporting project success across key areas
Responsibilities
Procurement
1. Support the procurement of materials, subcontractors, and services in line with VINCI procedures.
2. Help prepare tender packages, invitations, evaluations, and recommendations.
3. Contribute to developing strong, efficient supply chain relationships.
Applications & Cost Control
4. Assist in the timely preparation of valuations, invoices, and final accounts.
5. Monitor and manage subcontract costs and material usage.
6. Identify and report inefficiencies, supporting project cost optimisation.
Reporting & Risk Management
7. Contribute to cost value reconciliations (CVRs) and accurate forecasting.
8. Learn to identify project risks and opportunities and record project changes.
Contract Administration
9. Support subcontract and main contract administration, including preparing notices and instructions.
10. Help ensure compliance with all contractual obligations and project controls.
Project Completion
11. Assist in the final stages of project close-out and documentation archiving.
Essential Qualifications/Skills

12. BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
13. 0–3 years of post-graduate experience in a commercial or construction setting
14. Full UK driving licence
15. Strong communication and organisation skills
16. A proactive approach and willingness to learn
