Overview
We're looking for a Temporary Works Engineer to support the safe, compliant and innovative delivery of temporary works solutions across complex construction projects. It's a key role working closely with project teams, designers and Temporary Works Coordinators and Supervisors to ensure all temporary works are designed, checked and delivered in line with BS5975 and wider regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
* Review and check temporary works designs in line with BS5975.
* Provide engineering support across the full project lifecycle, contributing to the design, review and implementation of temporary works including falsework, formwork, access systems, propping, façade retention and lifting solutions.
* Provide technical support to site teams throughout delivery.
* Support internal and external designers to ensure timely, accurate designs.
* Carry out technical reviews, hazard analysis and risk assessments.
* Assist TWCs and TWSs with site controls, compliance and assurance.
* Ensure drawings, permits and documentation are developed and reviewed.
* Support permits to load, strike and other temporary works approvals.
* Contribute to safe construction methodologies and sequencing.
* Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations and Principal Designer duties.
Qualifications
* Experience as a Temporary Works Engineer within contractor, consultancy or design environments.
* Strong understanding of construction methods, materials and sequencing.
* Good knowledge of BS5975 and temporary works procedures.
* Degree qualified (BEng/MEng) or equivalent experience (HNC/HND).
* Membership of a relevant professional body.
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
* Eligible for SC clearance.
Desirable
* Experience in regulated sectors (power, nuclear, rail, utilities).
* Chartered Engineer status (CEng).
* NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
