Behaviour Teaching Assistant

Salary: £88 – £110 per day

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Specialist Teaching Assistant to join an Alternative Provision in York, North Yorkshire, starting in September 2025. We are currently seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant with educational experience to work on a 1:1 and small group basis with students in a short-stay provision.

Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
To work with students on a 1:1 and small group basis, building positive relationships with primary aged students attending a short stay provision.
To work with class teachers to support in the delivery of lessons and activities, whilst promoting positive behaviour.
Supporting children with challenging behaviour, learning difficulties or emotional and behavioural difficulties.
Responsibilities will also include helping prepare learning materials and leading small group activities.
Promoting a safe, positive, and nurturing learning environment.
Provide additional support to the teacher in the classroom.
Teaching Assistants Requirements:
Must hold the Right to Work in the UK.
Have experience working with children or young people, in an educational, SEN, or PRU environment.
Training in behaviour management and de-escalation techniques is desirable.
Have good knowledge about different additional needs and working with students with SEN on a 1:1 basis.
Have excellent teamwork, classroom and communication skills.
Hold a Child only DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
