Job Title: Family Support Worker
Department: Children's Social Care
Location: Worcestershire (community-based with flexible working)
Reports to: Team Manager
Job Purpose
The Family Support Worker provides targeted support to children, young people, and families where there is a Child in Need plan or a risk of family breakdown. The role focuses on working directly with families to strengthen parenting capacity, promote child development, and help keep children safely within their home environment.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out direct work with children (including pre-school children), parents, and carers as part of assessments and support plans
Encourage and empower parents and carers to meet the needs of their children
Support families at risk of breakdown and work to maintain safe family environments
Provide practical parenting support and promote understanding of child development
Contribute to assessment and planning processes to safeguard children
Work in partnership with multi-agency professionals
Work flexibly, including evenings and weekends when required
Maintain accurate written records and produce reports
Follow all safeguarding, equality, and health and safety policies
Working Relationships
The post holder will maintain positive professional relationships with colleagues across children's services and partner organisations. This includes working with education, health professionals, voluntary organisations, and families to coordinate effective support.

The role requires a flexible approach to working hours based on the needs of families. Ongoing professional development and training are expected as part of the role.
