Want to be the driving force behind manufacturing in Wales?

Make UK is looking for a commercially sharp, well-connected individual to take the lead across Wales - growing our membership, strengthening relationships and raising our profile at the highest levels. This is a role for someone who thrives on being out in the market, building networks, spotting opportunities and making things happen.

Make UK is the voice of UK manufacturing. We’ve been supporting the sector since 1896, working with thousands of businesses across engineering and manufacturing to help them grow, develop their people and stay competitive.

The Role

This is a high-profile, outward-facing role where you’ll lead our activity across Wales. You’ll focus on growing membership, strengthening relationships and increasing the value we deliver to members and partners. It’s a mix of business development, account management and stakeholder engagement, ideal for someone who enjoys being out with industry, building networks and influencing at a senior level.

Business development & growth

* Bringing in new members across Wales
* Growing revenue from existing members through upselling and cross-selling services
* Identifying opportunities with non-members for training, consultancy and other services
* Building relationships with affiliate and commercial partners
* Supporting and mentoring wider business development colleagues in the region

Member engagement & retention

* Acting as the main point of contact for members in Wales
* Ensuring a strong onboarding experience for new members
* Proactively engaging members through visits and events
* Driving high retention and increasing member usage
* Managing at-risk accounts and resolving service issues
* Delivering engaging regional events, forums and networking opportunities
* Supporting a Regional Advisory Board to represent member voice

External engagement & influence

* Working closely with policy teams on Welsh Government engagement
* Ensuring member views shape national policy activity
* Communicating key policy updates and legislative changes to members
* Representing Make UK across the region with credibility and impact

Skills & Experience

* Significant experience across business development, account management or similar
* Strong understanding of manufacturing/engineering (or closely related sectors)
* Well-connected in Wales with an established professional network
* Commercially minded with strong negotiation skills
* Confident communicator, able to engage at senior level
* Experience building partnerships and working with stakeholders
* Leadership experience and the ability to support/mentor others
* Self-starter who’s comfortable working remotely and travelling regularly
