Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Engineering Supervisor to join our client's team at a large data centre for a well-renowned Japanese technology company in Thurrock, Essex. The successful candidate will oversee the delivery of Hard FM services, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and excellence in all aspects of engineering maintenance and operations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage day-to-day engineering maintenance across client sites, coordinating with both in-house teams and external contractors.
* Ensure 24/7 shift cover and maintain effective communication with the site engineering team.
* Serve as the Low Voltage (LV) and High Voltage (HV) Senior Authorised Person (SAP), maintaining HVAP levels across the team.
* Produce weekly reports for the Account Manager detailing site activities and plans.
* Maintain all electrical and mechanical plant services to industry standards.
* Oversee contractor activities, ensuring compliance with risk assessments, method statements, and QHSE permitting.
* Schedule subcontractor visits and ensure adherence to client security protocols.
* Collaborate with the Client, Contract Manager, and Technical Ops Lead for planning and organizing works.
* Possess technical knowledge of critical environments, including UPS, Chiller Plant, AHU, CHP, PDU’s, Gen Sets, Vertical transportation systems, LV & HV Distribution, and switching gear.
* Identify part replacements and obtain quotations for the Asset Life Cycle Management Plan.
* Support cost-effective procurement of maintenance services within budget constraints.
* Ensure statutory engineering maintenance documentation is maintained and accessible.
* Oversee completion of PPMs and Client Service Requests in line with SLA’s.
* Ensure compliance with audit requirements and review site SOPs, ERA’s, and scenario training.
* Conduct mock drills and toolbox talks, providing feedback to the Account Manager.
* Adhere to CBRE GWS QHSE procedures and implement improvements identified during inspections.
* Manage technical training requirements, including competency assessments and scenario training exercises.
Dimensions:
* Directly accountable to the Account Manager & Manages a team of engineering staff.
* No direct budgetary responsibility, but requires financial awareness.
Person Specification:
* Must pass security clearance checks (SC level).
* Strong people management skills with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
* Proficiency in PC and MS Office applications.
* Recognized 3rd Level Qualification in Electrical Engineering or similar.
* Experience with BMS Controls and HVAC systems.
* Good technical knowledge and the ability to project manage and multitask.
* Ability to work to high standards against agreed timescales with minimal supervision.
* Knowledge of emergency response, standby, and call-out activities and protocols.
* Experience with UPS, standby power, lifts, boilers, and HVAC systems.
* Experience with electrical systems, switchgear, and earthing systems (LV & HV).
* Eligibility to become a company SAP for LV/HV systems
