Senior Aircraft Engineer – Mechanical Engineer

Position Summary
Thales seeks a Senior Aircraft Engineer – Mechanical Engineer to perform aircraft installation engineering, participate in design, development, and integration of aircraft In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity Systems, focusing on monument design, development, and qualification. The engineer supports Type Certificate (TC) or Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) programs and provides sustaining engineering to airline customers, overseeing outside engineering firms assisting in system design and aircraft integration.
Key Areas of Responsibility
1. Design Engineering: Generate modeling, fabrication, and assembly drawings using CAD tools. Conduct structural analyses for modifications. Develop STC amendments for reconfigurations, upgrades, and system evolution for existing or new operators of Thales InFlyt Experience IFE System.
2. Installation/Integration Engineering Design: Develop design and processes for installing Thales InFlyt Experience products on various airframes. Responsible for monument design and installation documentation using CAD tools.
3. Program/Project Functions: Support multiple programs, act as technical focal, and ensure customer requirements are met across aircraft platforms.
4. System Engineering: Gain knowledge of Thales IFE System and integrating systems to troubleshoot issues and respond to customer requests.
5. Communication: Develop system reliability reports, present ideas internally, justify technical processes, and communicate requirements, schedules, and design changes with internal teams and external partners.
Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor’s in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related Engineering discipline.
* At least 5 years’ experience with OEM documentation and aircraft structure; 5 years in Rack/Monument design and qualification.
* Knowledge of mechanical principles: stress, airflow, flam, sheet metal, machining, extrusion, finishes.
* Familiarity with Boeing D6-36440, Airbus ABD0100, DO-160, AC 21-49, FAR 25.
* Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD tools.
* Ability to analyze problems, identify root causes, and manage product lifecycle changes.
* Must be vaccinated against COVID-19 or have an exemption.
Special Position Requirements
* Core hours Mon-Fri, hybrid remote possible with at least 2 days onsite.
* Up to 25% travel expected annually.
* Access to production areas; light physical activity up to 10 lbs.

What We Offer
