With a strong reputation for innovation and engineering excellence, they deliver bespoke automation solutions to a wide range of industries including manufacturing, food, packaging, and automotive. They are now seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer with strong EPLAN experience to join their growing engineering team. This role offers the opportunity to lead electrical design projects for cutting-edge automation systems, working within a flexible hybrid model of 12 days per week on site. The Role Senior Electrical Design Engineer As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, youll be responsible for the concept, design, and delivery of electrical control systems for bespoke machinery and automation projects. Youll create high-quality electrical designs using EPLAN, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer specifications, while collaborating closely with mechanical, controls, and software teams throughout the full project lifecycle. Key Responsibilities Lead the electrical design of special purpose machinery and automation systems. Produce detailed electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams using EPLAN. Select and specify electrical components including drives, motors, sensors, and safety devices. Ensure designs meet relevant standards (Machinery Directive, BS EN 60204, etc.). Support system integration, build, and testing phases, providing technical input and troubleshooting. Collaborate with controls and software engineers to ensure seamless system operation. Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and engineering best practices. Skills & Experience Required Proven experience as an Electrical Design Engineer within automation, special purpose machinery, or industrial equipment. Proficient in EPLAN Electric P8 (essential). Strong knowledge of control panel design, power distribution, and machine safety standards. Understanding of PLC and control system integration (Siemens preferred). Ability to manage projects independently and deliver high-quality design documentation. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills. Desirable Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or similar design tools. Familiarity with functional safety and risk assessment processes. Knowledge of fieldbus systems (Profinet, Profibus, Ethernet/IP). Whats on Offer Salary: £60,000 £65,000, depending on experience. Hybrid working typically 12 days per week on site in Nottingham.
