Tradewind Recruitment are proud to be working with a nurturing primary school who are seeking a compassionate and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. They are looking for someone who will work closely with the SENCO, teachers, and parents to provide targeted support for children with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning. Your responsibilities will include:
Providing 1:1 support to children with additional needs, tailoring approaches to suit each individual
Supporting small groups of pupils with targeted interventions
Assisting with behaviour management and implementing strategies to promote positive learning behaviours
Helping children develop communication, social, and independence skills
Liaising with class teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure consistent support
This role requires patience, resilience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. It is an opportunity to build trusting relationships and help children reach their potential in a safe, caring environment.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will:
Have experience working with children with SEN, ideally within a school setting
Be caring, patient, and able to adapt quickly to changing situations
Demonstrate good communication and teamwork skills
Hold relevant qualifications such as a TA certificate, CACHE, or equivalent (desirable but not essential)
Have a proactive attitude and a genuine desire to support children's progress
