Phototherapist / Phototherapy Nurse - Dermatology

An opportunity has arisen for a nurse with an interest in phototherapy to work as a Phototherapist / Phototherapy Nurse for the Dermatology department at Leighton Hospital.

You will be working alongside our phototherapy team, making this an ideal role if you wish to develop your interest in this field. You will be supported to learn and develop the necessary skills and knowledge.


Main duties of the job

You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care throughout their treatment to discharge. You will be responsible for recording patients' treatment plans, cumulative doses, adverse events, etc., and providing a written summary to the referring clinician.

Departmental protocols and guidelines must be followed at all times. You will undertake regular risk assessments, audits, and reviews, and make recommendations to the senior team.

You must be a registered nurse.

Job responsibilities

The role involves:

1. Completing investigations and treatments, supporting the dermatology team in ensuring the completion of appropriate dermatology pathways.
2. Providing specialist advice to healthcare professionals, other agencies, carers, patients, and relatives regarding phototherapy and related assessments and treatments within your scope of practice.
