About the Role:Seven Resourcing is seeking an experienced Rehabilitation Officer – Visual Impairment to deliver specialist rehabilitation services to adults with sight loss. This role is focused on empowering individuals to achieve independence, confidence, and life skills through tailored interventions and support. You will work closely with clients, their families, and other professionals to ensure high-quality, person-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct specialist visual impairment assessments to identify needs, aspirations, and rehabilitation goals.
* Plan, implement, evaluate, and review rehabilitation programs aimed at enhancing independence, safety, dignity, and choice.
* Deliver training in daily living skills, communication methods (Braille, audio description, ICT, telecommunication aids), mobility (cane techniques, orientation, and route planning), and low vision strategies using specialist equipment.
* Support visually impaired people with additional complex needs such as dual sensory loss, physical disabilities, learning difficulties, and mental health conditions.
* Identify, issue, and demonstrate specialist equipment and assistive technology; provide advice on procurement and safe use.
* Assess and recommend minor adaptations to living environments and liaise with relevant services.
* Maintain professional records in line with GDPR and organisational policies.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues, health services, education services, and voluntary organisations to improve accessibility and support networks.
* Mentor and supervise student Rehabilitation Officers where applicable.
* Practice in accordance with National Occupational Standards for Specialist Sensory Workers and maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, guidance, and best practices in visual impairment rehabilitation.
* Understand and address the psychological impact of sight loss, referring clients to emotional support services as appropriate.
Candidate Requirements:
* Proven experience in rehabilitation or specialist support for visually impaired adults.
* Knowledge of specialist equipment, low vision aids, and assistive technology.
* Strong assessment, planning, and case management skills.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teaching abilities.
* Understanding of legislation and statutory frameworks relevant to social care and visual impairment.
* Commitment to safeguarding, equalities, and high professional standards.
* Enhanced DBS check required.
