About The Role
Our Singing for the Brain sessions offer people affected by dementia a chance to enjoy a fun activity within a supportive environment, and we need your help to make this happen!
Singing for the Brain is a structured group session based on music therapy and singing, for people with dementia, who may attend alone or with a carer. These sessions provide enjoyment and social interaction for attendees.
As a Singing for the Brain Support Volunteer, you’ll welcome and engage with people with dementia, helping them feel at ease. During the session, you’ll encourage participation and assist the facilitator with activities, either online or in person.
Location: Buckland Community Centre, Malins Road, Portsmouth, Hampshire PO2 7BT, on the second & fourth Wednesday of the month from 10am - 12.30pm.
You’ll be great for the role if:
* You are interested in building meaningful relationships and making a difference.
* You want to help people with dementia find their voice through music.
* You are fun and enthusiastic.
* You listen well and show compassion.
* If supporting virtual sessions, you can navigate online platforms and use Zoom confidently.
* Experience of dementia is not necessary, nor is singing ability.
