The delivery of the Westinghouse UK Fuel Growth Program is essential to the future nuclear fuel products for all current and future reactor types and is a fundamental part of the UK Government’s Nuclear Roadmap and Net Zero 2050 commitment. The portfolio is vital to Westinghouse UK's long-term strategy and the growth of the Springfields Fuels site.
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic professional to join our project team as a Risk Manager. The role involves supporting a diverse portfolio of projects across operational production plants, laboratories, and site infrastructure, from business planning and bidding through to contract delivery and closure.
The Risk Manager will lead the Risk Management function for Springfields projects and programs, reporting to the UK SFL Head of PMO. Responsibilities include developing and managing risk management capabilities, supporting project and program risk processes, and coordinating stakeholder engagement, including internal departments and external agencies like UK Government DESNZ and NDA.
The role entails establishing, managing, training, and deploying tools for effective risk communication and oversight at project and program levels, including risk identification, assessment, treatment, escalation, and reporting processes.
The Risk Manager will oversee a team of risk professionals and support staff, demonstrating extensive experience in risk management.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Develop risk and opportunity registers with details on causes, consequences, ownership, and actions.
2. Monitor and report risks, issues, controls, and benefits through appropriate processes.
3. Perform quantitative and qualitative risk and opportunity analyses to support project management and delivery.
4. Implement scenario modeling methodologies for the WEC SFL/Fuel portfolio, integrating findings into cost and schedule forecasts.
5. Establish governance processes, including audits, for risk and opportunity management across the portfolio.
6. Manage the creation and maintenance of scope, cost, and schedule baselines, considering risk and uncertainty.
7. Ensure compliance with WEC risk processes and collaborate with the central risk management team for process improvements.
Education, Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:
* Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
* Experience in risk and opportunity management strategies.
* Professional certification such as APM.
* Experience managing risk in a portfolio, program, or project environment, particularly with M&E, CS&A packages on design and build projects.
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and communicate effectively at all levels.
* Ability to develop and implement risk management processes and procedures.
* Provide guidance to optimize contract objectives based on current risk and opportunity assessments.
* Maintain accurate risk and opportunity data, highlighting current and potential issues.
